Marriage in the Lampung Pepadun indigenous community involves not only two individuals, but also extended families and ancestors, strictly regulated by customary law to maintain the honor of families and relatives. The Lampung Pepadun people, who inhabit the interior of Lampung, follow a patrilineal system. Their unique tradition, "angkon anak marriage," requires couples from different tribes to go through the process of adopting children before marriage. The tradition includes introductions and an engagement, similar to khitbah in Islam. Angkon anak is the first step before the Ijab and Qabul ceremony, with various customary requirements including the provision of a dowry. This study examines the importance of customary marriage in building and maintaining kinship relations as well as the mechanism of the angkon anak tradition in Bernung Village, Pesawaran, Lampung. The research method used is descriptive qualitative, describing the situation and data in a natural way to provide a factual and accurate description. Data were obtained through direct interviews with traditional leaders in Bernung Village, Pesawaran.
