Abstract

This research departs from the heritage belonging to Jambi Province which is one of the great heirlooms of the Jambi Kingdom, namely the Keris Siginjai. The Siginjai Keris is closely related to the Orang Kayo Hitam figure which is a Jambi folklore. The Siginjai keris consists of three parts, namely the upstream part, the blade part, and the sheath part. Through ongoing research, the sarong part of the Keris Siginjai was then used as a source for the creation of a short play entitled Perahu Paku. In completing the creation of short play scripts, a research method was applied with a qualitative approach in the form of observation and documentation methods which were carried out at the research location, namely the Siginjei Museum, Jambi Province. The result of the research that has been carried out is in the form of the creation of a short play, Perahu Paku, which originates from the sarong of the Keris Siginjai. The conclusion in the process of completing research on the creation of the short play Perahu Paku, is that the creation of play scripts can be sourced from anything, including even heirlooms, but with due regard to history and parts of these heirlooms.
